Megaman X OC - Lan/Naito

UPDATE: I changed his eyes from purple to green so he can match better with Lee, who has blue eyes even though her name means "green"...because Lan's name means "blue".

NAME: Lan, nickname "Naito"
SPECIES: "Forest assassin" reploid made to kill Mavericks who somehow escaped to a 100% natural area, or to shoo poachers and kill them if they don't cooperate (Forest assassins are allowed to kill any human who insists on desecrating nature, because that human will hurt many others indirectly if left alone, and so for the greater good, they're better off dead.). His function is niche because not many reploids or humans can get past the forest guards. He's made to kill without inflicting collateral damage or disturb the animals, making him one of the stealthiest reploids.

BACKGROUND
He was one of the two "forest assassin" reploids created shortly after the X6 crisis, his partner being Lü. Initially, between the two, Lü is the shier one, with Lan being the more talkative one. Both were gentle, young reploids. Lan being the more personable one, with Lü being the more socially awkward. They would always try to talk offenders out of hurting nature first before attacking, until one incident with a human poacher. Lan tried to talk the poacher out of hunting the animals in the forests, but the poacher responded by shooting him in the face. Lü went berserk on the poacher, and she changed since then.

After the incident, Lü changed into a very different person; she is extremely protective of Lan, sometimes to his chagrin. Her constant protectiveness made him uncomfortable sometimes because he wanted to take care of her too, but he doesn't say anything much about it at first. Lan remained diplomatic, always talking to his targets first. However, this approach was what got him stuck in B-rank, just like what happened with X. Meanwhile, Lü's approach (Just snipe the target; no talking required) got her her SA-rank. Lü is dismayed because Lan was held back because of his kindness; to her, it's unfair. But Lan always reassured her that he's fine with it, because he thinks he's doing the right thing.

Lan will eventually confront Lü on how her over-protectiveness towards him makes him uncomfortable and that while he understands that she doesn't want him to get hurt, she has to recognize that they're both adults, even though they're life partners; she has to give him a chance to take care of himself, and her, too. She can't do all the work, even though she does it for him. After this development, Lan's confidence shows more, and he shows his nurturing side more often.

PERSONALITY
Lan is a gentle, calm and diplomatic person from the start. However, this doesn't mean he is naive; after the incident where he got shot in the face, he started to accept the cruelty of the world, but chooses not to become part of it. He is a studious bookworm who likes to write, but never shows them to anyone; not even Lü--unless he's proud of it enough to show it to everyone he knows.

Like Lü, Lan is chivalrous; he defends the weak, and the people he loves. He is honest, but prefers using euphemisms when required; when breaking bad news, he breaks it out gently. He likes puns and impactful short stories. He doesn't like yelling at people out of anger, so when he does yell at people, it's either a big deal, or he's calling them from afar. He also doesn't like conflicts--part of his development is recognizing that conflict is necessary sometimes. Even after the development, he still doesn't really like conflicts.

His nickname, Naito, is self-picked; it is both a pun and a prayer. It is a pun on how "Night" and "Knight" are pronounced, and he wants to become a "knight in shining armour" capable of protecting anything he can.


RELATIONSHIP WITH LÜ
It's impossible to bring up one of them without bringing up the other on occasion, as they were created together, and created to work together. This is especially prominent if Lü's the one taking the more active role, with Lan as her spotter. Lan and Lü can't decide if their relationship is romantic or platonic, so over time they just stop caring. They kiss when they want to, they fight like cats when they want to, they get a room when they want to.

Initially, they tried going with the "rule" of being siblings because they were created together by the same creator, but the strictly-platonic nature of sibling relationships made them feel uncomfortable and restricted, and they feel that the concept of a romantic relationship isn't something they would associate with their relationship.

Comparing their combat abilities, they are equally skilled in all aspects, but they have different preferences. Lü prefers to snipe the targets, while Lan prefers confronting their targets head-on.


IN COMBAT
Lan is a melee fighter who uses martial arts. This is because he always talk to his targets before starting the fight, and when he does start a fight, he doesn't want to spill blood. That's why he doesn't use any bladed weapons. And like Lü, he doesn't use guns or throwing knives, due to the fact that it would bear more risk hurting the animals and plants.

Lan and the rest of the 9th Special Forces unit are recent creations, so I don't have enough info to fill up a whole character sheet yet.
His design is based on knight armours and waterfalls. His armour is thin because he's built for stealth.

His name, Lan, is Chinese for "blue". His partner's name Lü is Chinese for green. I named them so because long ago, in Chinese and Japanese, "blue" and "green" used to be considered as one colour, and had only one term (In Chinese, it's qīng, in Japanese, it's ao. Both terms share the same character. (青)).

Also, there is a gradient in his bodysuit, and he has dreadlocks.
